Can your Blackberry Drive You Insane?

May 20 2010

Before we begin, let’s just make it clear that this isn’t a black propaganda against Blackberry phones. Neither are these findings directly linked to the Blackberry brand. However, it can’t be denied that a lot of people are seriously addicted to Blackberry models and other similar cell phones which allow us to access the internet 24/7. Below are reasons (which may be good for a laugh) why your Blackberry may just drive you nuts.

Anticipation spells addiction

If you find yourself anticipating random text messages from people, you may just be addicted to your Blackberry. Sometimes being connected to people 24 hours a day isn’t such a good thing—not if it affects your productivity at work and your sleeping patterns. Some people lose track of the concept of “free time” and “work time” because they’re so glued to their Blackberries. You prioritize trivial things over factors that actually matter.

Losing out on sleep

Before cell phones were invented, only the TV kept us from sleeping early. Now, aside from television shows and the computer, internet-connected phones like the Blackberry beckons to us as well. People are addicted to communicating with each other that they give up hours which are supposed to be spent on sleep just to chat with someone or exchange messages through their Blackberries.

Radiation risks

Never mind insomnia. There’s also a huge possibility that too much cell phone usage can cause brain tumors. When you’re with your cell phone the whole day like it’s as vital as your liver, you’re inadvertently exposed to cell phone radiation. While research studies about this are still conflicting, majority of the studies still lean on the damages that cell phone radiation can cause to your brain.
